My Experience using GrandeLash!

Grandelash MD Lash Enhancing Serum Review
Grandelash MD Lash Enhancing Serum Review

I originally posted this in early November after having used GrandeLash for exactly three months. This is one of the best products I’ve bought or tried. IT WORKS!!!!! I am now in the maintenance phase, I’d say. I use it every other night and probably will continue to do so for the rest of my life – I love the results that much.

I am so excited about today’s post (well besides the part where I’m sharing these reallllllly creepy close up photos of my face. That part’s a little awkward! But guys wow. Grandelash is pretty damn magical. MAGIC. I cannot stop gushing about it to anyone who will listen.

Grandelash MD Lash Enhancing Serum Review!

I have always loved the look of longer lashes. When I was in my early thirties I would go to Koreatown in Manhattan for lash extensions (the place I went to was called Ebeneezer and they did a great job). I loved the look but I hated the maintenance. Having to go in every 2-3 weeks for a fill was both expensive and time consuming. I didn’t have it in me. The look was great – you just wake up looking good… even without makeup you look all fresh and just a bit more done up. But the maintenance! Then, for a while, I was using Neulash (review from 2015!) but after a couple years I abandoned/forgot about it and my lashes went back to normal.

My lashes aren’t particularly bad, but they aren’t (or weren’t) great. Mascara is the one makeup product I am sure to apply, every day. It’s really crazy to me what a difference your lashes can make, which is why (even now) I never skip mascara… I need my lashes. Earlier in the summer I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen for a while and couldn’t stop staring at her lashes. I asked her what was going on (I thought it was extensions!) and she told me it was Grandelash. I logged into the Sephora app and placed an order on the spot.

I’m going to show you some photos and share my experience but here’s the net takeaway.

This stuff is amazing. I like it better than I liked Neulash. My lashes are longer, thicker, and they even look darker (an illusion because there’s more of them which makes them look darker, but still a pretty great illusion). The difference is so dramatic that someone messaged me to ask for a pic without mascara. The after photos I am sharing ARE without mascara… the results are kind of crazy!

Grandelash Before and After

Let’s start out with a couple before photos.

Grandelash MD Lash Enhancing Serum before photos

Is Grandelash safe?

So these are the before photos. These were taken on August 5th in my hotel room in New York. No mascara, no makeup. Again, I don’t think my lashes were particularly bad, short or stumpy, but they certainly weren’t long or thick.

And above are the afters, taken this weekend (exactly three months later on November 5th). Again, no makeup or mascara.

Also – someone in my DMs asked if I did anything for my frown lines or neck wrinkles. No.. the light in the two photos is just different! I did get Botox between my brows and around my eyes but that’s it. Still have the frown lines and neck wrinkles… lol.

I want to talk a little bit about my personal experience but first want to chat about how it works.

First of all, the results are only temporary. Once you get the long lashes you’ve been looking for, you have to continue to use the product for maintenance (I will tell you that I have now cut back to every other night!). Grandelash works by conditioning the lashes and stopping the fall out pattern, which allows them to grow longer and makes your lashes appear thicker as there are more of them. Once you stop using the product, your lashes will resume normal fall out. If you miss a night or two you will be fine but consistency is really key here.

I apply mine before bed, right after brushing my teeth. This has helped it to become second nature. I also purchased the travel size mini and keep that in my travel makeup bag so that I never forget it.

My personal experience!

I honestly didn’t notice anything for a good month. And then it just got more and more dramatic to the point where (right around the 3 month mark!) every time I would talk to the camera on Instagram I would get questions about what was going on with my lashes. That’s when I knew it was time to finally post the review.

Grandelash Side Effects

The first week was a little bit rocky. My eyes were really irritated and watery (and a little itchy too!) and I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue. A friend told me to power through and I’m glad I did. The irritation was annoying but it was a passing thing. Especially now, seeing the results, I am so happy I stuck with it!!!! I have heard people mention it leaving their eyelids red and also darkening the skin above the lashes. My eyelids did not become red, and the skin above my lashes was already dark (who knows why, haha) so I can’t really speak to those things. But yes, there was definitely irritation for that first week!

How to Apply Grande Lash

Before bedtime, apply Grandelash like you would liquid eyeliner, just above your upper lash line. Don’t apply to the actual lashes, but the lash line itself. One dip is enough for both eyes. Let it dry for a couple minutes and you’re good to go. Again, you aren’t going to see results for a while but once you do… WOW!

Does Grandelash Work – and Do I Recommend It?

Yes! Absolutely, yes. As you can see from these photos it works extreeeemely well. I absolutely recommend it! (Also for the record, I think the results are even better than with Neulash).

  1. Can you use a sleep mask after it dries?

    • Hi Pat, I don’t see why not!!! The sleep mask definitely shouldn’t be going anywhere near your lash line so I wouldn’t think it would interfere.

I bought this stuff so fast after you mentioned it last week! (I’m one of the creepers who’s been asking about your lashes lately). So excited.

This stuff is truly amazing, but a warning that I actually had to stop using it daily after a few months because my lashes got TOO long, and then I started seeing awkward overgrowth in the inner corners of my eyes. I think dialing it back to applying a couple times a week would have been perfect at that point but it’s somehow much harder to remember to only occasionally use it vs. daily. It’s incredibly effective though!

    • Thank you so much for the tip. That is what my friend told me which is why I’ve started dialing back. But you are totally right – it’s much easier to remember to do something every night vs. every other night!!!!

A word of caution to potential users: GrandeLash contains isopropyl cloprostenate, which is a prostaglandin analogue that can have some serious side effects. Irritation is one of the main side effects, as Grace mentioned, but what scared me was that it can permanently change the color of your iris (the colored part of your eye). This may not be a concern for everyone but just wanted to mention this as I immediately stopped using GrandeLash after learning this. (Love my blue eyes!)

I love the look, but I read a post on @soapandwaterpretty that explained that they contain something which causes prostaglandin-associated periorbitopathy. That is scary! The prostaglandins affect the fat cells in the eye area, making them shrink. This leads to eyes with a sunken, droopy look, darkens eyelids, eye iris, and undereye area – basically aging the eye area prematurely. Such a bummer…

This is the main reason I won’t use eyelash serums with prostaglandins. I’m really scared about the possible side effects, including a sunken undereye area, which I don’t need since that’s my biggest area of concern.

Grace – your results are amazing though and I’m a bit jealous of the lashes 😉

Do you happen to have any experience with GrandeBrow?

Thanks so much for this review! I’ve been using it for almost a month and haven’t seen any results, but you it was great to hear you say it takes a while. I might not have stuck it out if I hadn’t read this!

I’ve been using Grande Lash for over 6 years. It takes three weeks before you really notice the growth but it does work. I’ve experienced redness on the lid area but that’s not. Not enough to make me stop using it. Love this product.

  9. I have been using Jamaican Black castor oil on my lash line every night for years. It took a while, but after a couple months my lashes became thicker and fuller than they’ve ever been. I don’t even need mascara. It is not expensive and very gentle.

I heard about Grandelash from my niece. Her lashes are awesome! So I bought it. This was last October and I will never go without it, ever! I also use the Grandebrow, same results. I bought my daughter the Grandehair trio, she’s only been using it for a week but we are optimistic. These products are well worth the price which is pretty reasonable.

I agree with you. My lashes were short and brittle, so I started using GrandeLash. After about a month, they started getting longer and darker, double-lashed!! Amazing stuff!!

I haven’t used mascara as yet, but will do so. The lashes seem to brush against my sunnies and go up almost to my eyebrows … I do not see any darkening of the area around my eyes, nor do they itch.

    Worth every $$
