Neulash Review 1660

updated July 2018 – Neulash is a part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! This is the best time to buy it… take advantage of their deal here.

I never like to presume that you all read here regularly, but if you do, (or if you follow my snaps), then you know that I am obsessed with eyelashes. Obsessed. I’ve tried nearly every mascara under the sun, regularly stop strangers to ask them about their own lash routines, and could probably talk about eyelashes for hours and hours. It’s a problem.

For the last few years, on and off… I had lash extensions. I had a standing appointment with Ebenezer in Koreatown, and every other Saturday morning I would pay them a visit, for what was the simultaneously the best (I love the results) and worst (but hate laying there for an hour+) part of my day. My lashes always looked amazing but it was a huge pain getting the extensions put on. Perfect lashes don’t come easy. You lay on a table as an aesthetician meticulously fills them in.. meticulously removing old extensions that had grown out and were too long, and painstakingly adding an extension to every single lash.

That being said, I loved them. What I liked most is that when I had them on, I didn’t really need to wear eye makeup, and when I woke up in the morning I felt really pretty without doing anything. But it was time consuming and expensive. (as an aside, Ebenezer is actually one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. It’s $94 the first time you go and if you get them filled within two weeks, $50 per fill. Prices go up accordingly, depending upon how much time you wait in between fills.) Also, I wanted my Saturday mornings back. So I stopped going. My wallet and bed thanked me, but my lashes didn’t. I’d coat them with as much mascara as they could hold, but it wasn’t the same.

So I decided to try a lash serum. I had tried a lot of lash serums, none of which worked particularly well. I’d heard good things about Neulash. Friends had raved about it and I knew that Julia from Gal Meets Glam used it (and her lashes are top notch). I mused about purchasing it in this post. It was your comments on that post that convinced me to take the plunge.

Neulash Review 1661

So here’s my review. It works. Really, really well. That said, you do need to be careful. There are a few important caveats that go with using this product that nobody told me, so I wanted to share them here.

  1. The results are not permanent, so once you achieve the results you’re looking for, you must continue using the product to maintain your newly long + thick lashes. Neulash works by conditioning the lashes and stopping the fall out pattern, which allows them to grow longer and makes your lashes appear thicker as there are more of them. Once you stop using the product, your lashes will resume normal fall out. So you must keep using it. This is not a big deal to me, I’ve gotten to a point where it’s just a part of my routine (I apply before brushing my teeth.) I even keep a smaller bottle in my travel bag so that I never miss a night. As long as you are disciplined, the results will continue (and get even better… I swear mine have recently started to get even longer and thicker.) It won’t kill you to miss a night or two, but consistency is important.
  2. Use as directed. The instructions say to apply it like liquid eyeliner… to the base of your lashes. It’s important to apply it really carefully. When I first started using the product, I wasn’t as careful, and then I noticed a random little lash growing a couple millimeters above the rest of my lashes. That freaked me out a little bit (but hey… it shows that the product works!) I pulled it out, and got really careful about how I applied it, and it hasn’t happened again.
  3. Don’t apply it too closely to the outer corners of your eyes. This sounds strange, but the lashes at the corner of my eyes grew so long that I experienced a lot of irritation because they were always getting stuck in the corner of my eye. It was really annoying.

Those are my only caveats. The product works exceptionally well and since using it religiously since the end of April, my lashes are much longer + thicker. I get them tinted and skip mascara most days… but if I do wear mascara, friends will ask if I got extensions again, which is probably my favorite compliment in the world.

Neulash Review 1655

As for mascara, I am pretty much a drugstore mascara gal (they usually work just as good, if not better than their fancier looking counterparts). L’Oreal’s Miss Manga mascara was my fav when I first wrote this post but it’s been discontinued! I am presently loving Maybelline Total Temptation even more. It leaves your lashes crazy thick and super long but not clumpy. I do have to be careful when I apply it as my lashes get so long that they smudge if the mascara is still wet.

This post is in no way sponsored, I just love the product and have been asked by a few of you to write a more formal review.

Hi Robin! I’m not entirely sure, but I started using my tube about four months ago and there is still plenty left! It seems like it lasts quite a while!

I can totally, totally relate to your lash obsession. I regularly miss out on what someone is saying because I’m transfixed (and drooling over) their amazing lashes. It just ain’t fair!
I’ve been using Latisse for a while, and it works really well and is about the same price point as this. I’m wondering if you’ve ever used Latisse, and if so, which you prefer between this serum and Latisse. Thanks!

HA – so glad I’m not the only one!!!! It isn’t fair.
I have not tried Latisse, but I have blue eyes and heard about Latisse’s side effects. I also am lazy and like that I can get Neulash online vs. through a doctor. That said, one of my close girlfriends is using Latisse and her lashes look amazing! I have a feeling they both work pretty well.

  9. such a great review!! it’s always refreshing to hear (read) a really honest recommendation from someone. I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger on NeuLash (and Lash Booster) but haven’t just yet because of the steep up front price point. I’m happy to hear it’s worked so well for you at this point and also happy from reading some of your responses to others’ comments that even though it is a little expensive the NeuLash tube has lasted you so long. Definitely sounds like it’s worth a shot to me now! Thanks so much!

Thanks, Lauren! Yeah, it is definitely a steep price, but the bottle lasts so, so long. I think they say it is a 6 month supply but it lasts much much longer! I hope you try it as I really love it! xx

      Hi Serena,

No… it doesn’t! I did a bit of research and here’s the jist of it…

“Neulash has been ophthalmologist and dermatologist safety-tested without any known adverse side effects. Neulash is a cosmetic grade product with cosmetic approved ingredients and does not contain any prescription drugs which are known to possibly affect the color of the iris when applied directly into the eye, such as glaucoma eye drops, which is not applicable in the case of Neulash.

Hope that’s helpful. My own eyes are blue and I have not experienced any side effects after using this product for over a year. 🙂 x

I recently bought the product because I am stopping lash extensions too..! I love them but they were breaking the bank! A friend of mine told me to use it twice a day, but I know the directions say once a day.. Does it really matter?

I use it once a day (at night before bed) and have had great results 🙂

I tried Neulash and love it. It has made my lashes grow very long in just about a little over a month. The kicker is that I am (a young, I hope) 64 year old. I’m waiting for my lashes to just get a little more volume to them. I’ve even purchased a second tube just to have it on hand in case mine runs out. I,too, would recommend this product.

Hi there…thank you for the great info. Do you think this works better than Latisse? Also, do you know of any product that will curl my lashes?

    Thank you!!

Hi! I have never tried Latisse but am scared to as one of Latisse’s side effects is that it can change blue eyes to brown. So I have never tried it. Also, it needs to be prescribed AND it is very expensive in speaking to friends who have done it. I think both probably deliver great results, but Neulash is more convenient and less scary.

In terms of curling your lashes, do you mean like a lash perm? I have never tried that and wouldn’t want to… for me, spending 5 seconds using my lash curler works just fine!

      Hope this helps! 🙂

I used neulash when it first came out and was amazed at the results. I ordered it again recently and have been using for two months with NO results. I am very upset. I am trying to get a refund. They must have changed their formulation.

I’m a mascara fanatic! Previously had awesome results with Babe Lash and just recently started using Neulash so I definitely appreciate your review and I’m super excited to keep going with this new lash enhancer! My fave mascara? Voluminous Lash Paradise waterproof formula!! My job puts me in a car for 2-5 hours then a OR anywhere from 3-12 hours with a surgical mask and eye protection then another 2-5 hour drive home and my mascara stays put and still looks amazing! No flaking no smudging. If you haven’t tried it yet give it a go!

Can it be used if you have eyelash extensions on meaning does it have oils in it that will make the adhesive release from the Lash as some other growth serums do.

Loved finding your review. My extensions are off and my eyes feel naked and my eyelashes are so short they are virtually nonexistent. I’m just beginning NeuLash. Your review provided good info and offers hope my lashes WILL grow out and thickness will return. I’ll never do extensions again.

I’m nervous about taking them off and seeing my eyelids bald. So I’m going to use this product and then take the lashes off. Would you recommend that? Anyways.. thanks again.
