Glossier Cloud Paint Review.

glossier cloud paint review | the stripe

You should know that I was originally working on a story about cream blushes and how wonderful they are (and they are!) but then I called in samples of Glossier’s new Cloud Paint, and I knew that they needed to be a story all their own. You see, as I was just explaining to another beauty enthusiast girlfriend the other day, Cloud Paint is not a cream blush. There is nothing creamy, greasy, or oily about these… they are more like water color paints for your face.

Blush is the beauty product I most often overlook. Yet, it’s also the product that inevitably, always, makes you look the prettiest. So why do I forget it? I really don’t know. I sometimes am just so concerned with removing the redness from my skin (especially in the winter) that I forget to “add back” a little color. Anyway, I opened up Cloud Paint and fell in love. I’ve swatched them for you at the bottom of the post but if I had to pick a favorite it would 1,000% be Dusk. It’s so pretty and slightly brown and when I wear it I don’t need bronzer. I also swear, in addition to making my cheeks look rosy, it also makes my face look thinner. A win, win. 😉

The best way to apply Cloud Paint is simple: dab/dot it onto the apples of your cheeks (and anywhere else you like… a makeup artist once taught me to apply just a little blush just south of my hairline – I have no idea why, but it does look pretty!) and blend by either tapping it into the skin until it’s blended (like they do in the videos on the Glossier website) or gently buffing it into your skin with a BeautyBlender (that is what I do as I am a little challenged with makeup).

I now use these paints literally every day and can not tell you how much I love them. It’s rare for a beauty product to completely knock my socks but it looks like Glossier’s done it again! (Read my reviews of Boy Brow and the fabulous lip stains – my two other Glossier faves.) Brava, Glossier… thanks to you, I no longer forget about blush!

from left: beam, dusk, puff, + haze.

(and then… ever so slightly blended in, in the same order below.) As I mentioned, Dusk is my current fav but I think Beam will look really pretty with a tan, and Puff + Haze both give a more feminine pinky-y glow.

  3. I completely agree, cream blush is the best! I just did a little review on one of my favorite organic blushes over here – http://www.organicallyemily.com/natural-beauty-swap-cream-blush-stick/

So excited you reviewed this product! Can you tell me how you layer with other make up? Do you put cloud paint on then powder? Or the opposite? Thank you!

    • Alyssa:

I was curious about the same thing! I wear a BB cream and then put powders over it. I’d love to know how it plays with other makeup.

      • I don’t wear powder, but I put it over my tinted moisturizer! Hope that’s helpful? I would make it your last step I think, unless you are using the powder to set your makeup.
