When I moved to Brooklyn a little over three years ago, it was an all around upgrade with one exception: the bathroom. While my living space quadrupled (easy to do when you live in a 300 square foot studio!), I traded down in the bathroom department. Which wasn’t a big deal, but since writing about beauty products is such a huge part of my job, it’s definitely had its challenges, especially in the storage department.

I wanted to make it as pretty as possible. Wallpaper was a great way to do that. I used this wallpaper from my sister. Full disclosure, since I rent she had it specially printed for me onto removable wallpaper (this is a huge pain for to do and sadly an “only for my sister” sort of thing – SORRY. If you are looking for removable wallpaper, I highly recommend Chasing Paper!!!).

I also needed makeshift storage. There are things really helped with that. The first is my command shelves (we’ll talk about those below), the second is this “Lazy Susan” for the bathroom, and these under-the-sink drawers. The Lazy Susan AND the drawers both fit nicely under my sink. I also have this hyacinth basket (also have a bunch of these for the top shelf of my closet!) to hold washcloths and extra toilet paper, and this large hyacinth basket (I guess it’s meant to be a waste basket, haha) to hold bath towels and my blow dryer + curling iron.

I could write an entire blog post about these Command ledges.

They really saved me, not having a medicine cabinet. Mine have been up for over 3 years now and they’ve never fallen down. I have 3 rows of the 21″ ledges (above) and then several of the 4″ ones in the shower area and a few other places.

(Note: I say in the shower area, as they’re not anywhere that gets wet – but they keep my products accessible.) DO NOT hang these anywhere that could get wet… but otherwise they’ll be fine. My bathroom walls are tile and the shelves stick really well to the tile. Just make sure that whatever you stick them onto is really really clean. And that you follow the instructions that come with them! I put them up myself and if I can, anyone can – trust me on that!

For a shower curtain, I again turned to my sister.

She knows all the best cool small businesses to shop and she introduced me to Quiet Town. I ordered this gorgeous shower curtain and these brass hooks. I’ve had both for a little over 3 years now and LOVE. To keep the shower curtain in good shape I also have this liner, which is the best shower liner I’ve ever used – it refuses to get mildew!

My shower curtain is sold out but if I were going to order a new one now, I would probably go for The Orient in sand. As it is a small space, a colorful shower curtain would just be too overpowering!

The planter was a gift and has no branding (I’m sorry!). But I will say that adding plants to your bathroom is a must – it keeps the air clean and also just lends a spa like vibe! The mirror is several (maybe 7?) years old (bought at Anthropologie), but this one is very similar!

The towel is from Dusen Dusen… my fav!
