It is always fun to go back, dive into the data and see what products resonated most with you. The analytical side of blogging/influencing is one that is rarely discussed but an important one! Every week, I spend a lot of time looking at the data (and then based on the data trying to find other products you’ll love, topics to write about, etc.) I was a finance major in college and have always loved numbers; this is a part of my job that I really enjoy!

As I looked through the year’s best-sellers, some items are surprising, others not so much. One day we were out at lunch and we saw a girl wearing a striped t-shirt and gold birkenstocks. My bf was like, “she definitely reads your blog.” I laughed, he is cute and thinks my reach is way bigger than it is. But also, maybe? I do kind of feel like gold birks are kind of our “team uniform,” same with the Anthropologie Somerset Dress.

Amazon Favorites: December 2022

This month’s list of Amazon finds is rather practical. Is this… midlife? My beloved leaf blower/vacuum. Inexpensive flatware that is perfect for dinner parties. Socks (they are really good socks!). Affordable holiday decor. I am into it though.

I also want to talk about detergent for a quick sec. We talked about it on Instagram stories but man, The Laundress recall really has me sad. I pretty much exclusively used their products until that happened… bougie laundry detergent makes me so happy! I started out trying this one. It’s really nice but not as good as The Laundress. Then I tried this one — the lavender fragrance smells amazing but it’s pretty no frills/hippy-ish. My favorite of all is this one in Diva. It smells… heavenly. A lot of you recommended the trick of mixing a little in with an unscented Tide Pod… genius!

Honestly, any time outside of work this month and last month has been focused on getting the house in order. So this list reflects that. Anyway, there you have it. I am really enjoying this domestic life. I am having a dinner party for ten (my whole family) tomorrow night, I’ve been loving hosting smaller gatherings at the house, and now I seemingly spend every Saturday morning vacuuming up leaves… it’s nice?

My favorite thing this month, if I am being honest, is The White Lotus. And now that it is over I am just not sure how life will go on! (I am being dramatic, of course). The past 30 days have been pretty frenetic and crazy with work and life and trips and just general holiday mayhem. It helps having a solid TV show to look forward to every Sunday night! Also: I was thinking about this last night and can’t believe I have only lived in my house for six weeks (it makes me feel better; I still have so much to do but I have accomplished a LOT).

Other non-shoppable favorites: making these trash cookies (so so good). Also, my friend Mally got two shout-outs (her gorge charm bracelet and the best socks) so I thought I’d just say, follow her – she has the best shopping finds! Last but not least, on the art front, new releases from two of my favorite Charleston based artists: Kate Long Stevenson and Raven Roxanne.

This month’s list of favorites is a very good one. It’s a mix of old favorites and new additions, and if you ask me – everything on the list is not to be missed!

November Favorites

I was personally so excited about the Via Carota cookbook – it’s one of my favorite restaurants in New York, I even pre-ordered it. I cannot WAIT to get cooking once I am settled in. It looks promising so far.

On the beauty front:

I tried out Saie + Reformation’s collaboration: a gorgeous pinky highlighter – I really love it. It’s just pink enough to give you a rosy glow… but not so pink that it should be used as blush. It’s just really, really pretty! I also rediscovered my love of the Brazilian Bum Bum cream… I’ve been using this for years but am not very monogamous with my body creams. I had brought a tub of it with me to LA and my boyfriend was like “WHAT PERFUME IS THAT!?” He has never reacted that way to a fragrance I’ve worn so I left that jar at his place and ordered some more. It really does just smell so good.. like salted caramel and pistachio.

Also, the Bader lash serum! I am going to write a longer review of this product but I like it a lot. I have been using it for 8 weeks now and don’t see a difference vs. Grande Lash (but this is non-irritating and doesn’t contain any of the bad stuff).

Last but not least, I am not into shapewear – I generally find it uncomfortable and constricting BUT I was wearing a clingier dress and bought this high-waisted underwear and it’s pretty amazing. Not too constricting but just smooths away any lumps and bumps. Along those lines, the best black tights. I wear the M/L. So opaque!

October’s list of Amazon favorites is short but very sweet! Some really really good things, starting with this iPhone case. I’ve had it for a couple weeks and get countless compliments. I am also ob-sessssssed with this pink clay mask. It deep cleans skin like no other, without drying. Perfect for blackheads, clogged pores, and hyperpigmentation. Also on the masking front; I reupped on the ultra affordable snail masks during Prime Day and remembered how much I love them. A great night of masking would involve the pink clay followed by the snails. My fav combo: a good old fashioned deep cleanse and then something to hydrate!

On top of that, a fun game to play with your significant other (my boyfriend and I broke out a nice bottle of wine and played this and loved it), a great pair of casual boots, and more!

It is not hard to find great basics under $100-$150. Right now, I think that The Gap, J.Crew, Madewell, and Everlane are all doing a really great job for those things. (If you haven’t already, my style guides – tops, sweaters, jackets & pants/denim and you’ll find lots of pieces from those brands).

But what about those more special, fun pieces? That can be a little more tricky and (in my opinion) requires a bit more effort. I always like to peruse English Factory and ASTR on Shopbop (along with this page of under $200 pieces), BaubleBar for jewelry, Mango, COS, and of course Zara’s new arrivals. (Zara has so many great new pieces in my favorite color right now like this cardigan (those pearl/jewel buttons!) and this dress). The biggest request I have had over here has been for great boots! So today I have prepared a little fall boots edit of sorts with all of my favorites; again… at a range of price points. Admittedly, we are not wearing boots too much down here in Charleston YET but I have started layering them with my dresses (my go-to’s are my Loeffler Randall Goldy boots; for something less expensive I love the Madewell version – still not inexpensive but they go on sale quite a bit)

Fall Boots Edit

Also.. here is how I would style:

Straight Leg Jeans: something with a slightly pointy/square toe. These J.Crew boots would be my pick.

Flare or Wide Leg Jeans: I personally wear these with a platform heel (or if they are cropped, clogs or a ballet flat) but if I were going to wear them with boots I would do something with more of a platform or lug sole like these or these.

On the fashion front there is quite a bit to talk about – all of my picks can be found below… if you are on desktop, hover over the image for why I chose it. This shaker stitch sweater is so classic and chic; could pass for Jenni Kayne. I have these strappy sandals in way too many colors. They are comfortable and if I ruin them out at a bar or on a trip, they aren’t expensive to replace. (They’re also great if it rains: vegan leather.) If you are looking for a great classic trench this one is pretty perfect, and this dress is stunning – I included it in yesterday’s party edit as it would be perfect for a fall wedding without breaking the bank. Also: tennis bracelets! Lastly, I have and love this little pouch clutch. So good.

The beauty deals in this sale are pretty epic (and again, super similar to Prime Day / it’s a great time to stock up!). For me, the highlights would be GrandeLash (read my detailed review here – it WORKS), this amazing lip mask (buy a few and give them as holiday gifts/stocking stuffers), the Elemis cleansing balm, the best best best travel toiletries bag, and Olaplex No. 3 (incredible for dry/damaged hair.. if you highlight your hair it is a MUST!). Oh and white strips, of course!

Also, the snail masks!!!

home & Electronics

This is the best part of the sale if you ask me. First thing is first: the Nugget Ice Machine! I love this thing so much. I wrote a very honest review of it with all of the pros and cons. But I definitely recommend buying while on sale; it only happens a couple times a year. But also: I cannot recommend this carpet cleaner enough. Hair balls from my cat, spilled wine, it has gotten everything out of my rugs and furniture. A true life saver. This was one of my best-sellers during Prime Day and I was excited to see it included in this sale.

Three other things I always load up on: Tide Sticks, my favorite hangers, Stasher bags.

Toys, Games, Books, Gifts, Etc

The holidays feel SO far away, but the reality is that it’s never too early! I’m scooping up Candy Land for my niece and Mastering the Art of French Cooking (a classic!) for my mom and my sister. Also, this NYT cookbook looks promising.

Also on the gifts front, the Coravin Pivot is just $87 with today’s deal. I have never seen it for such a good price. It would make an incredible holiday gift for the wine lover in your life. (If you are not familiar with Coravin, check out my review – it is an incredible way to make your wine last longer.)

The biggest question I have been getting in my DMs and for my email newsletter is what to wear to all of fall’s events (specifically: weddings and parties). While I do have a whole wedding guest edit on my LTK page, I wanted to put together a more formal guide here on the blog! There are three sections to this guide: party dresses, black dresses (I have noticed I’ve been buying and wearing a lot more black), and party shoes! I tried to track down options at all price points so there are splurges, saves, and everything in between.

Fall Party Dress + Shoe Edit

Party dresses

I just love a party dress. Getting dressed up makes me happy. Last year, I bought this Saloni mini dress (seen here in this blog post) and it was one of my most favorite purchases of the season. It’s such a special dress, I’m so glad they brought it back! This year, I already bought this sequin dress with nowhere to wear it to, but I figure I will find an occasion. This Anthropologie dress is another one that I reach for quite a bit when I’m not sure what to wear. It’s one of those dresses that looks good on everyone and it comes in a slew of gorgeous colors. I have the brown (see it on here!).

little black dresses

I’m having a big moment with black. I think that I have gotten a little bit tired of all of Charleston’s floral dresses and am finding myself swinging in an entirely different direction; favoring jewel tones and black. This little mini is so versatile. You could do it with black over the knee boots for a sexy look, platform heels for a fun look, or these cute sling backs for a look that is classy and sweet!

I have it and love it (in the medium) and kinda want to get the green one too. But I will warn you that it is quite short. I got a medium and kind of wish I sized up to a large for length. It’s loose but just very short. (I’m 5’8 for reference). Also on the LBD front is this asymmetrical number – I bought this last year and it’s still in stock and still a fav.

Party Shoes!

I have said this again and again but I am just so happy that platform sandals are back in style. I love them. They are comfortable, they make your legs look amazing… and they’re just fun! I am also loving a kitten heel mule (perfect with black cigarette pants or denim and a fun top!) or a fun ballet flat.

I have so many good things to tell you about this month. This month’s list is a bit more beauty-heavy than usual as I have been trying a slew of new products (and rediscovered a few old favs!).

October Favorites

I did an ad for the Jill Stuart jelly eye shadows. After filming it, I went to dinner with my girlfriends and everyone was like WHAT EYE SHADOW IS THAT!? This is not a drill. It’s amazing. My favorite colors are the brown bijou (a champagne shimmer) and dark glint (I use this as an accent). GRACEA20 will get you 20% off through the end of the week.

My friend Lindsey influenced me on this Strivectin neck roller and I am obsessed. Too early to tell if it’s working but it feels really good.

My new favorite mascara. Big, fluffy lashes.

Dorsey just did a big restock of the Kate tennis necklace. It will likely sell out SOON so grab yours now if you’ve been wanting one.

I kept really wanting a monochromatic “set” and this Madewell sweater and ASOS skirt are a perfect little set.

I have been wearing a lot of platform sandals. I’m really glad these have become a trend as they make your legs look amazing and are so much more comfortable than stilettos! These and these are both fabulous.
