My Favorite Hand Creams!

My Favorite Hand Creams

I originally published this post last March but I think it’s extra relevant right now (my hands have been so dry!) and it keeps coming up in the Facebook group, plus I’ve tried a few new ones, so I wanted to update it.

I don’t know about you but my hands are dried out from all of that washing + hand sanitizer! Obviously this is a teensy tiny problem in the great scheme of things going on in the world right now, but today I wanted to share a few of my most favorite luxurious hand creams. If you treat yourself to one nice thing right now for me, hand cream would be it… it’s a small luxury that’s also very much needed right now.

My Favorite Hand Creams!

Augustinus Bader The Hand Treatment is what I am using right now and I absolutely love it so much.

I am obviously a huge fan of all things Bader, so I was very happy they came out with this product. It is expensive, but you do not need much (I’m still on my first tube from the beginning of quar). It leaves skins so soft and young looking, and it hydrates all day long.

Beauty Pie’s Super Retinol Hand Cream has probably been my all time fav hand cream;

Simply because it makes such an immediate difference and the retinol actually helps permanently counteract the signs of aging. The price tag is fantastic, too. Dehydration is the big problem right now. But if you feel like your hands are looking a little old, give this a try! Also worth noting based on some questions in the comments; this is probably the least greasy of the bunch!

Aesop’s Hand Cream smells incredible

Looks incredible (the packaging is gorge) and leaves hands hydrated all day (or at least until you wash your hands again 30 minutes later, lolz)

Susanne Kaufmann Hand Cream is a little jar of amazingness.

It smells so good and is so hydrating and you only need the tiniest amount.  I wrote an entire blog post about it three years ago and it remains one of my absolute favorites.

Byredo Tulipmania Hand Cream is so luxurious

And every time I pull it out of my bag I am met with “WHAT IS THAT IT SMELLS SO GOOD!?” because everything Byredo makes just smells beyond. It’s also deeply hydrating (and with everything else here, you only need a tiny bit!).

Lastly (and not pictured), you can’t go wrong with Weleda Skin Food.

It’s the most hydrating, smells so good, and is a lot less expensive than everything else I’ve shown here! (PS – you can read more about Skin Food and all of its MANY amazing uses in this post!!!)

Grace – any chance you can do an Amazon affiliate link for the Weleda? I’m going to buy it and I’d love to support you but it’s sooo much cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else!! If not it’s totally okay (I have 0 idea how affiliate links work, haha), but I’d love for you to get the credit for ~influencing~ me!

Grace, I bought Weleda skin food off your recco this weekend on IG (I had asked about hand creams!). It is amazing and after a few uses, I feel like my hands are returning to normal!

I bought the Weleda Skin Food based on your recommendation before, and I’m SO GLAD I have it now, it has completely saved my hands. My husband has really sensitive skin and he loves it too 🙂

  8. OMG this is perfect timing because my hands are looking ROUGH.. I have a very random question though: I hate the feeling of greasiness on my hands like a lot…a lot a lot, lol, so are any one of these less greasy feeling/soak in really fast? (i know, thats the last thing i should be concerned about, ahah, but i really really don’t like that feeling…big laughing face emoji needed here!)

    • Hahahah no worries! I would say that the Beauty Pie is probably the LEAST greasiest, and very fast absorbing. The Susanne Kaufmann, too. Skin Food would be the most emollient (aka greasy, haha).

Hi Grace. One thing I was taught and then stressed to my staff is that when you wash your hands you deplete them of moisture. If your hands get dry then the skin can crack leaving yourself vulnerable for infection. That’s why you should always follow up with a hand cream.

Thanks for this! Is it worth it to be a Beautypie member for the cream or just buy it?

    • Hey Lisy,
It really depends on how much beauty you like to consume. For me it is but I’m always trying new things and also love so many of their other things (they also have amazing candles, brushes, bags, makeup, serums, all of it!!!) Here’s a post I did with more Beauty Pie favs here: https://thestripe.com/beauty-pie-review/

  11. Great recommendations! Hand cream is one thing I always slack on, and I’m determined to use some more. Especially since I’m washing my hands constantly!

Thank you for this roundup! So timely. I am hoping to order some hand cream for a few friends as a little surprise in the mail this week, so this is very helpful. Also looking for some good hand soaps as gifts if you need another idea for a timely roundup 🙂 Thank you!

    • Oh good! That’s so nice. I can’t really think of any hand soaps (do you mean liquid or hard soaps? For liquid I love Follain, Byredo, and Aesop!) but my friend just launched a cool new business with her daughter! https://sohpshop.com/

Does anyone else think the Weleda Skin Food is difficult to spread? Maybe I got a bad tube?

Gonna try Beauty Pie next 🙂

I use Light Skin Food and I love it! Definitely easier to massage into my hands! Plus its cheap and since I have to share with my kids, that’s important, too.

    • It’s definitely VERY rich. I would recommend keeping it somewhere a little warmer, and also letting it warm up in your hands first!

You introduced me to Skin Food and it has changed my life! Might I also add I grabbed a tub of Flamingo’s body cream per your recommendation and also in love. I cannot believe it’s only $10. The quality feels way more expensive! Love ya Grace

    • YAY I am so glad, and yes! I can never believe how inexpensive it is either… the consistency reminds me a lot of the Bader one!

Thanks so much! I am always looking for hand creams. Have you tried the Gold Bond Overnight Deep Moisturizing? Kathleen Jennings recommended it (we went to middle school together!), and am loving it as a night time hand cream

This is a great list! Obviously, not for use all the time, I’m always trying to find a good hand cream with SPF. Could you do a round up? I feel like this is a no-brainer, but they are hard to find. I am currently using the Supergoop ( I carry the purse size ) which is pretty nice. It’s smells good and feels more like a hand cream than a sunscreen ( nice bonus!). Burt Bee’s used to make a good one, but I can’t find it anymore.

I bought the Weleda Skin Food and am loving it! Recently moved to CO and with the winter temps plus high altitude (7,200 feet) this has been the perfect budget friendly hand cream. Thank you for the recommendation
