A Clean Dupe for Nars Orgasm.

Clean Dupe for Nars

Remember when I posted my mostly clean everyday makeup routine? I had been on a hunt for an everyday blush that I’d love as much as my beloved NARS orgasm blush. NARS orgasm had been my favorite blush for as long as I could remember – it’s definitely a holy grail makeup product as nothing else quite gives that perfect peachy pink golden shimmer. I don’t know how they do it – it’s the BEST and it looks good on every single skin tone.

So I kept trying different clean blushes, trying to find something I loved as much as my beloved.

Nothing I’d tried measured up! I asked you guys for recommendations for orgasm dupes and my DMs were flooded with suggestions for Beautycounter’s blush in “Nectar.” I’d truly never had so many people recommend one specific product…. it was wild! (The other things that were recommended  were ELF twinkle pink and this one from Wet n Wild – but while very affordable, neither brand is clean so I didn’t end up trying them! But I mean… $2.99 for the Wet n Wild is a crazy good price!)

So I ordered it (along with this cream blush) immediately to see how it measures up. I kept my expectations low so not to be disappointed… even if it was sort of similar, I would have been satisfied.

And you guys… it’s perfect!!! That same golden pink glow that looks good on EVERYONE and just makes you look awake and happy. I am obsessed. My favorite way to test it was to put one blush on each cheek and see if I could notice a difference. I could not. The wear was the same too – both blushes last all day on me.

The cream blush was not my favorite but I’m just generally not a cream blush person. I know a lot of you love them and I’ve tried a million of them’ I just personally prefer a powder blush! Becca is a big fan of cream blushes so I gave it to her and she really likes it. It’s not a bad product, it’s just not for me.

PS – my sweater is available here!

(Also, a word about my beauty routine as a whole: I am about 80% clean…

I do the best I can but this is NOT a fully clean beauty blog. Makeup wise, I try to make my daily routine fully clean and won’t feel bad if I occasionally get my makeup done by Glamsquad or do a glittery eye from NARS. I still love NARS for special occasions etc but if it’s a product that I am using every single day, I want it to be clean!)

I am confused as to what makes Beautycounter blush “cleaner” than Nars? Both have Talc as the first ingredient. I try to stay away from that, but like you make exceptions in regards to quantity/frequency of usage. Can you clarify? Also, ordered and loved the Madewell sweater thanks to your influence! Love that it was on sale too!

    • Hey Sharon,
I’m trying to switch out all my everyday products to clean formulas from brands like Ilia, Beautycounter, etc. I love NARS but they still use some problematic ingredients.

Thank you so much Grace! The linked article, as well as the corresponding articles at Harper Bazaar were excellent. I personally only got into clean products when I realized I was breaking out due to specific chemicals and parabens. I found all of my “acne” was actually just irritation from chemicals.

        • Really glad it was helpful. There’s def a debate on talc but it seems there are safe versions. I really trust Beautycounter re: quality ingredients. Another great brand to check out is ILIA. They can do no wrong!

Beautycounter only uses certified asbestos free talc and responsibly sourced mica. They also test their color cosmetics for heavy metals – they test the raw ingredients and the finished product.

I also swapped my Nars Orgasm for Beautycounter back in 2017. Thanks for sharing one of my faves!
