Briogeos Brand New Scalp Revival Shampoo

If you have followed me for a long time, you know that Briogeo is my absolute favorite hair care brand. Highly effective products that are also clean, natural, and from a Black-owned business. Their products are 6-free meaning there are no harsh sulfates, no silicones, no parabens, no phthalates, no artificial dyes, and no DEA. The brand’s proprietary NOVA complex works to fortify, nourish, and protect the hair.

I personally have very dry hair, and a dry scalp. In the past I have been turned off by dandruff shampoos as they smelled weird or dried out my hair… opting to use Briogeo’s Scalp Revival Scrub instead (this was the product that first made me fall in love with Briogeo — it smells just like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie and gets your hair and scalp so, so clean… it’s one of my absolute favorite products of all time). When I found out that Briogeo was launching a new companion shampoo (their Scalp Revival Dandruff Relief Shampoo!)  I could not wait to try it. Everything I have tried from this brand is so, so good… spoiler alert, this shampoo is excellent!!!!

And, as always – you can take 15% off at Briogeo with my code STRIPE

Briogeo Scalp Revival line

Briogeo’s Brand New Scalp Revival Shampoo

We will talk about the new shampoo in a sec but Briogeo’s entire Scalp Revival product line is wonderful. My favorite is the scrub but there is also a cooling and hydrating mask (this feels so good on the scalp!), a dry shampoo, a treatment, and a scalp massager.

Briogeo Scalp Revival dandruff relief shampoo

Briogeo’s new Scalp Revival Shampoo is made from 92% naturally derived ingredients and harnesses the power of salicylic acid (3%!) to reduce scalp irritation and redness, and (of course!) pesky flaking and scaling associated with dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and/or psoriasis. I have been using this once a week (I wash my hair 2x a week and use the Don’t Despair, Repair Shampoo on the other day) and have seen a noticeable improvement. You can use it after using the scalp scrub, or just use it on its own.

Here are the key ingredients (besides salicylic acid) that help it work so well!

Lactic Acid hydrates and exfoliates.

Binchotan Charcoal gently cleanses  and helps to diminish impurities, excess oil, and build-up (sometimes I can’t tell if I have dandruff or just use too much dry shampoo – this tackles both things!)

Tea Tree Oil soothes!

The best way to use it is to use it directly after the scalp scrub as the scrub will remove the top layer of dry flakes dirt, and grime (ew!) setting the shampoo up to do its best work. But you can totally use it without the scrub for dandruff maintenance!

Maybe it’s the shorter hair but I am definitely having a moment with pretty little barrettes and hair clips right now. Whether you have a Margo Tenenbaum moment or just opt to use a hair clip to accessorize a chignon or pull back a few stray hairs, it’s a fun and relatively low effort way to add a little bit of playfulness and fun to your outfit.

Pretty Little Hair Clips

  • These BaubleBar barrettes are so fun. I probably wouldn’t do my name but I think they’d be great with another word. Think NYC, CHS, your pet’s name, an intention, etc.
  • This little rainbow clip is a fun $10 Amazon find and reminds me quite a bit of this one from Gucci.
  • Like everyone else I am having a full-on moment with pearls and this little set from Anthropologie is so pretty.
  • I bought this set of clips on Amazon and will just say, don’t wait on these. They have great hold and are so cute! I might get a second set so that I can wear two of the same color at a time.
  • The one I love / want most in this roundup is actually this one from Tory Burch. Just can’t decide which one I like most!

Better Hair Days in 2022

I really want to take better care of my hair this year. Cutting seven inches off was amazing –  my hair just felt SO good. I want to keep that going. The shorter length also makes it much, much easier to style. I have a tendency to be lazy with my hair cuts – I will cut a bunch off and then avoid the salon for six months. So, regular cuts will be a priority. Besides that though, I have a new favorite product.

Before I talk about it though, you already know how much I love Briogeo: incredible, effective products that also happen to be clean and from a Black-owned, female-founded business. Their Don’t Despair, Repair collection is my absolute fav. It’s all I use- the shampoo & conditioner leave my hair super hydrated and soft (while helping to prevent frizz which is huge here with the Charleston humidity!) and I love the mask every week or so for extra hydration. If you have dry and/or damaged hair, you will LOVE this line… it’s been a real game changer for me.

Better Hair Days in 2022

This month they launched a new product and it is just fantastic. It’s their brand new rice water protein + moisture strengthening treatment. This is for those of us who heat style our hair a lot and want to strengthen it. And in the process, it leaves your hair so, so, so incredibly soft. I’m going to share how I use it below (also, watch my reel over on Instagram) but first I want to talk about what makes it so great.

First of all, this is an at-home, professional grade treatment — Briogeo’s most intensive treatment yet! It has the perfect balance of protein + moisture for stronger, healthier hair. Did you ever notice? Too much moisture = limp and lifeless hair. Too much protein = dry, brittle hair. It’s hard to find a balance. This is easy to use, smells amazing, AND it makes hair 2x stronger after just one use (again, this is perfect if you heat style your hair: stronger hair = less breakage).

Also, we have a code! Use GRACE for 20% off sitewide at Briogeo!

Better Hair Days in 2022 - Briogeo rice water protein + moisture strengthening treatment

Here is how I use it!

1. Shampoo hair (My fav shampoo is Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair shampoo – it gets my hair really clean while hydrating.)
2. Towel dry and comb in the treatment.
3. Comb through and pull your hair up.
4. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes (You can even sleep in it, if you’d like… just maybe put a towel down over your pillow).
5. Rinse out. For extra credit, use the Don’t Despair, Repair mask!
6. Style as usual.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Review

This post was originally published in July but I’ve given it a little refresher!

I’m excited about this product review as it’s a good one. But first – we have to talk about the scent. I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE POINT or the thing we should care about most… but GUYS: this stuff smells pretty much exactly like a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie. It’s wild. The scent is dead on. This scalp scrub/shampoo potion is highly effective but is also going to make you crave those cookies… badly. I just needed to warn you! It legitimately makes me hungry. PS – More about the whole scalp revival collection in this post, but also, use code STRIPE for 15% off sitewide!

Briogeo Scalp Revival Review

what it is: This is a charcoal and coconut oil micro-exfoliating scrub. I have tried a lot of scalp scrubs and detox treatments etc etc and Briogeo Scalp Revival is different from the others as it’s much less granular than say, the Christophe Robin one or the Goop one. (And I love those too but this one feels more manageable and is a little easier to rinse out.)

why I love it: The granules feel more like sand, if that makes sense… and (as I said earlier!) it smells BEYOND. It gets your hair very very clean (removing product buildup and grime… hello dry shampoo and sunscreen!). Besides that, it’s also very soothing, which I appreciate as my scalp can get itchy and dry.

why it works! There’s a lot going on with this product. First of all, charcoal powder detoxifies and draws impurities from the scalp and hair follicle. Briogeo uses Binchotan charcoal powder, which is a traditionally Japanese charcoal that is completely different from typical black charcoal. It can it can absorb deep-rooted impurities and build-up from the hair and scalp. The highly absorptive quality gives Binchotan charcoal a detoxifying effect on the scalp. Micro-exfoliators (again, these are more like sand, not larger chunks like many scrubs) remove dead skin cells. Meanwhile mentha piperita (peppermint) oil and spearmint cool and help to reduce scalp itchiness, alongside tea tree oil which calms and reduces scalp irritation and inflammation. Last but not least, coconut oil hydrates! And did I mention it’s totally clean and free of all the bad stuff? I LOVE this product. And the peppermint and spearmint oils smell SO GOOD.

PS – how to deep clean your scalp at home, and my favorite apple cider vinegar hair rinse recipe.

A Facial for Your Scalp

I’m really excited to team up with Briogeo again! Last month I reviewed their (amazing) Don’t Despair, Repair line which is AMAZING  for dry, damaged hair (or if you’re like me and it had been a while since your last trim). Today’s post is all about scalp health.

A Facial for Your Scalp!

To be honest, I hadn’t really thought very much about scalp health until working with Briogeo. I learned a lot from them with this project, which was really cool, and I’m very excited to share what I learned from them with you today. I personally get dry scalp in the winter, and always struggle with dry shampoo buildup, so I’ve loved the brand’s scalp revival scrub for a really long time. Any time my scalp is feeling dry or itchy… or like I’d been hitting the dry shampoo maybe a little bit too hard, this is my go-to. But scalp health goes so much deeper than that!

PS – Through 3/1. take 20% off at Briogeo with my code, stripe ! After that, the code will get you 15% off.

briogeo products | A Facial for Your Scalp

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that last night I teased these products with a little at-home tutorial video (you can watch it here). Today, I wanted to go a little deeper and talk about the WHY behind these products, and why they work so well.

Briogeo views scalp care as an extension of your skincare routine, which I LOVE. A healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. And just like with your skincare, the two biggest keys are exfoliation and hydration. You don’t need to do these things every time you wash your hair (I mean who has the time!) BUT once a week, or even every two weeks, it’s a good idea AND while you are doing it you can also multi-mask (aka apply a hydrating mask like the Don’t Despair, Repair mask to your ends!).

Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal + tea tree cooling hydration scalp mask

The first product we need to talk about is the brand new Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal + tea tree cooling hydration scalp mask.

You guys. This mask!

So this is actually the second step (you will want to use the scalp scrub first and then this afterward) but I wanted to talk about it first as it’s brand new and SO wonderful. It launched yesterday but I’ve had about a month to use it and really love it. I don’t think I’d ever used a scalp mask before this and I have to tell you, I love it. It feels SO good on the scalp – minty and tingly and hydrating (but don’t worry – it rinses out and will not leave your roots greasy).

This mask is ultra soothing. It’s perfect for an itchy, irritated, flaky scalp and delivers a boost of instant cooling (the formula contains a refreshing combination of tea tree, peppermint, and spearmint oils) as it hydrates and restores moisture to the scalp (after exfoliation) with hyaluronic acid and aloe vera.

After exfoliating, I apply this all over my scalp and let it sit for a full ten minutes. As I do this, I put the don’t despair, repair mask on my ends.

Briogeo charcoal + coconut oil micro-exfoliating shampoo

The Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal + coconut oil micro-exfoliating shampoo is, as you probably know by now, a holy grail favorite.

It’s not just me: it’s one of Briogeo’s top sellers. I wrote a big blog post about it earlier this summer but it’s the absolute best for giving your scalp a deeeep cleanse if it’s feeling itchy or dry or you’ve used too much dry shampoo and need to get it good and clean. Doesn’t hurt that it smells EXACTLY like a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie too. It does an amazing job gently exfoliating the scalp and then Binchotin Charcoal detoxifies the hair and scalp by absorbing impurities such as oil, dirt, sebum, and product build-up

(I also want to note that this, like all of Briogeo’s products, is sulfate-free so if you have a keratin treatment or color-treat your hair, it should be totally safe to use!).

scalp massager tool

And then there is this handy tool.

I like to use this with both the scrub and the mask as a) it feels really good but b) it helps to spread both products over the scalp. A scalp massager like this one is a really helpful tool for stimulating the scalp and creating more blood flow to the follicles.

Briogeo Revival charcoal + tea tree scalp treatment

I really love the Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal + tea tree scalp treatment!

Any time my scalp feels itchy I’ve been reaching for this serum to provide it with a little bit of relief. The treatment helps to improve hydration of the scalp for up to 8 hours and contains Binchotan charcoal to draw out buildup and impurities as that same blend of peppermint, spearmint, and tea tree oils soothes irritation and inflammation.

After exfoliating and masking, part clean and conditioned hair into damp sections. Apply 1-2 drops to each partition, and then massage into your scalp. Don’t rinse it out (it’s not greasy at all!). You can also use it before bed as a treatment, or anytime during the day if your scalp is feeling itchy!

briogeo biotin + charcoal dry shampoo

Last but not least is Briogeo’s Scalp Revival biotin + charcoal dry shampoo.

I love that this product is non-aerosol which means it’s free of all of the bad stuff and also good for the environment. It contains a complex of clay, tapioca, and rice starches to absorb excess oil and extend the life of your style between washes. It also contains that Binchotan charcoal to draw out impurities and buildup, and witch hazel + bamboo extracts to help balance future oil production.

My Favorite Products for Dry or Damaged Hair

I could not be more excited to partner with Briogeo this winter. I have been a big fan of the brand for some time now (their scalp revival scrub has become one of my holy grails, it gets your hair/scalp so clean and smells exactly like a Girl Scout thin mint cookie!). And as a dry haired girl I love their hair masks, too. And their founder, Nancy Twine is amazing: she’s the first Black woman to launch a line at Sephora (today, Briogeo is one of Sephora’s fastest growing beauty brands!).

She began her career at Goldman Sachs but after experiencing personal tragedy (she lost her mother in a car incident) she wanted to find more meaning in her career. She went out on her own to create Briogeo, which drew inspiration from the homemade hair treatments she used to make with her mom (I love that, as I did the same thing as a kid). If you want to know more about her story, I can’t recommend this episode of How I Built This enough! The bits about being a Black woman pitching hair care products to white male investors was particularly interesting.

I love how inclusive the brand is: from day one, it’s been Nancy’s mission to create products that are clean and natural with solutions for every hair type, need, ethnicity, background, and person.

My Favorite Products for Dry or Damaged Hair!

Today I am reviewing Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair! line. And while this is a sponsored post, please note that all opinions are my own and if you have hair that is like mine (thick and wavy, erring on the dry side) I truly cannot recommend these products enough. ALSO, a code: Now through 3/1 take 20% off sitewide at Briogeo with code stripe – after 3/1 it goes down to 15%.

My Favorite Products for Dry or Damaged Hair

The Don’t Despair, Repair! line is created for those of us who need moisture and repair (and in this situation are maybe a little or a lot overdue for a visit to the salon). And it’s 100% clean: no sulfates, silicones, parabens, ETC. They’ve had a shampoo and mask for a long time but the conditioner is brand new.

I wash my hair 3x a week. Twice a week I will use the conditioner, and once a week I’ll use the mask. There’s also the oil which I apply to my ends right out of the shower.

My Favorite Products for Dry or Damaged Hair

This is the best shampoo for dry hair.

It is sulfate free (very important to me as I have a keratin treatment). I have had a really hard time finding a shampoo that gets my hair really clean (I need that, as I do use dry shampoo!) without drying it out. This is that magical shampoo that does both. Also not important but I like how big the bottle is – it lasts a long time!

Briogeo My Favorite Products for Dry or Damaged Hair

I was already a big fan of the deep conditioning mask.

It helps to strengthen the hair and protect against future breakage. After shampooing and rinsing, I’ll leave this on for ten minutes while I shave my legs, exfoliate, etc etc. It contains rosehip oil (provides fatty acids to help maintain hair hydration and control frizz), algae extract (nourishes and strengthens hair while also protecting the scalp), and B-vitamins which improve the texture of the hair, adding body and sheen. B-vitamins are also great for restoring nourishment to damaged hair.

briogeo conditioner review

The conditioner is brand new and is such a welcome addition to the line.

I love hair masks but only really need them once a week. This is rich and hydrating but lighter than a hair mask, and it’s meant to extend the benefits of the mask… keeping strands nourished and moisturized. Fun fact: It’s been clinically proven to decrease hair breakage after two uses! Just two!

We talked about how Briogeo’s products are clean and natural and all the things they DON’T contain, but here are some of the key ingredients of the conditioner!

  • Micro-encapsulated Argan Oil: repairs damage to the hair cuticle for stronger, healthier hair
  • Sodium PCA: a powerful humectant that locks in moisture for added hydration

briogeo strengthening treatment oil

The strengthening treatment oil is fantastic for smoothing and maximizing shine.

You only need a few drops. I like to apply it right after I shower and towel dry my hair, but if I notice my hair getting frizzy mid-day, I’ll rub a few drops between my palms and then take my hands through the bottom half of my hair.briogeo review

My Current Hair Care Routine

When I did my Q&A on Instagram this past weekend I got quite a few questions about the hair products I’ve been using so thought I would do a blog post about it as the answer is a lot longer than a few instagram slides!

I have been wearing my hair natural (it’s wavy and in olden days I got regular blowouts but that just is not a thing I do anymore!) since March, BUT I want to caveat that as I do get a keratin treatment at the Fekkai salon probably every 4-6 months. I did a BIG blog post about that with everything you could ever want to know, but wanted to make sure I talked about that as it would kind of be the equivalent of a person talking about anti-aging products without disclosing that they get Botox.

The keratin treatment definitely gives my hair a leg up. My hair is naturally kind of crazy (super thick, gets very frizzy and just generally super unruly!) and the keratin treatment makes it smooth and shiny, I can air dry it without using one million products. Read that post for more info but it’s truly the best thing I do for my hair. It makes styling so much easier, but make sure you use a sulfate-free shampoo.

My Current Hair Care Routine

My Current Hair Care Routine

First up is shampoo and conditioner. I am really loving Gisou. A girlfriend had recommended it to me and I bought the shampoo and conditioner during the Sephora sale and really like them. The smell is incredible – like honey (the products are infused with honey) and they’re really gentle and hydrating.

My Current Hair Care Routine

After my shower I wrap my hair in an Aquis hair towel for 15-20 min (basically, as I moisturize, do my skincare, and put on makeup). I find that this towel helps cut down dry time amazingly well and also helps to prevent frizz.

Then, I take this Christophe Robin leave in conditioner (probably 5 pumps – but keep in mind I have a lot of hair!) and this Living Proof hair oil (probably about 3/4 of a dropper), mix the two in my hands, and rake it through my hair. After that, I just comb it through with a Wet Brush. I do not touch it and just let it dry. I find that it is the perfect combo. The leave in conditioner cuts out all frizz and leaves my hair really soft. And the oil seals the cuticle and locks out humidity.

this spray from Arrojo

Lastly, I loooove this spray from Arrojo. The only place that seems to sell it is Arrojo’s website and I am obsessed. It smells incredible and gives the perfect combination of texture AND shine. Once my hair is dry I give it a healthy blast of this for shine and to give my hair that messy, piecey texture I like.

Hope this is helpful! If you have anymore questions I’m happy to answer them in the comments section!

Dyson Hairdryer Review by The Stripe

This post was originally posted in June 2019 but I’ve updated my review a bit.

I have had my Dyson Hairdryer for a few years now. It’s always a topic of conversation; both with my girlfriends and my blog readers. Is it worth the money? Does it really make a big difference? Why is it special? And why is it so GD expensive!? I’ve talked to my hair stylist about this, I’ve talked to my friends about it… it’s a hot topic! So today I wanted to (finally) write a blog post to talk about that – the technology Dyson uses, how it works, and of course – whether it’s worth the money. So here it is… my very official Dyson hairdryer review.

Dyson Hairdryer Review

The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is an ultra high-tech hair dryer with super powerful air flow, great for those with very thick hair who would ordinarily spend a long time blow drying their hair. I personally love it but I have very unruly hair. It’s especially great right now when I cannot get into a hair stylist very often!

How it Works

Dyson is known for their vacuums (I also love my vacuum cleaner from them!) and the incredible technology they put into their products. The Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer uses a special motor (it’s built with a powerful V9 digital motor for ultra powerful airflow settings) that dries your hair faster than usual while also preventing heat damage with intelligent heat control.

This part is really cool: it actually measures the air temperature 20 times a second so that you don’t have to worry about overheating and damaging your hair. It will also decrease frizz and flyaways. There are four heat settings and three different speed settings. It also comes with several different magnetic attachments, including a smoothing nozzle which I really love.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Dyson Hairdryer retails for $399. It isn’t cheap and rarely goes on sale. A good time to buy it is the Sephora VIB sale. Sometimes there are bundle deals. Right now it’s $371 at Wal-mart and that is the best price I’ve seen it for.

How To Use The Dyson Hairdryer

While the technology behind the dryer is different from other hair dryers, it operates like any other hairdryer. It’s just very powerful. I section my hair off with clips, and use a round brush to dry it.

I’m including this video hair tutorial that I filmed last winter – it shows how I use the dryer – and then curl it afterward. The styling concentrator also helps to direct air flow.

I’d also recommend protecting hair with a good heat protectant. I’m a big fan of this one from Alterna!

Is the Dyson Hairdryer Worth the Money?

In my opinion, for my particular hair type (thick, unruly and wavy with a tendency to get VERY frizzy), it is worth the hefty price tag. Blow drying my hair used to be an actual arm workout! It would take me about 45 minutes to blowdry my hair and with the Dyson, I can get the job done in 25-30 minutes. With a keratin treatment, I can get it done in a solid 20, without any arm ache. So for me, it’s definitely worth the money if you have curly hair or typically need more than 30 minutes to blow out your hair.

It’s a great product, the technology is super cool. That being said, if you don’t spend more than 30-40 minutes blow drying your hair, this isn’t worth the money. This is all about drying hair faster. I have friends who want to buy it and it only takes them 15 minutes to blowdry their hair and that price tag just seems silly to me. If you can blow out your hair that quickly, get a cheapie drugstore blow dryer! I just don’t think it’s worth it if it only takes you a little while to dry your own hair. The heat control technology is pretty cool, so if you have really damaged hair that may be helpful, but overall I don’t think it’s worth the money unless you have ultra thick hair or curly hair!

Olaplex No. 0 Review

I have talked here quite a bit about my love for Olaplex No. 3. I featured it as one of my top two holy grail hair products a few weeks ago and have been a fan of it ever since wayyyyy back in the day when I used to see Aura at Sally Hershberger and had super blonde hair. Remember that? Back then, Olaplex was a salon-only sort of thing, so she’d sneak me out of with a little tub of Olaplex. I felt so cool and insidery. Now anyone can buy it!

Just in case you are new here or didn’t read my first post, I want to stress that Olaplex No. 3 is a pre-shampoo treatment. You can do it after washing your hair if you’d like, but the real magic comes when you use ait as a pre-treatment. I am not entirely sure why, just trust me on this.

Olaplex No.0 Review!

Recently, Olaplex launched a new product, meant to complement No. 3: Meet No. 0! The team sent me a bottle to try a few weeks ago before it launched. I was a little skeptical as I love the original so much – would this actually do anything else? I was really impressed, though! Again, this is meant to be used WITH No. 3. It actually comes with a small size of No. 3 in a cute little kit.

How to Apply:

The formula feels like water. You wet your hair all over, leave on for 10 min, and THEN put No. 3 on for another ten minutes. It takes a little while to apply – the bottle has a little nozzle so you squeeze it out, but I like that it comes out more slowly… it’s not messy at all, and you don’t have any waste. Yes, it’s a little high maintenance, but hey – we all have more free time than usual, these days! And TBH, it solves the problem of wetting your hair before you get in the shower and put in No. 3. (I used to wet my hair with a spray bottle).

Olaplex No.0 Results

As for the results, my hair is noticeably smoother and SHINIER when I use this! Shine is definitely the key difference of using the duo vs. just No.3. All of Olaplex’s products feature bond-building technology which actually works to repair the bonds of your hair, resulting in noticeably healthier hair. Your hair will be stronger with less breakage, healthier, softer, and SHINIER! (My enthusiasm over the shine is palpable. My hair type is not naturally shiny – it’s dull and frizzy, so when something gives my hair even a glimmer of shine, I get very excited.

This gets my stamp of approval.  I would recommend using the combo 1-2x a week! If you already use No. 3, stick to your usual schedule but use this to wet your hair beforehand instead of water. My hair is in better shape now that I’ve finally had a cut so only do it once a week but if I hadn’t had the cut yet I’d do it twice a week. You can buy the little kit here!

My Two Holy Grail Haircare Products

I have to be honest, when I signed onto a haircare campaign with Sephora (these things get planned months in advance), I figured I would have been able to get to a salon for a cut and color by now. Alas, this is real life and we are still quarantined! That being said, you’re getting the real deal with this post. It has been MONTHS since I’ve been to the salon. I was due for a cut before COVID-19 and now… four months later, I’m really really overdue. I am extremely grateful for both of these products and have really relied on both during quarantine.

A little background: my top concerns for my hair are repairing damage (I highlight my hair and heat style it frequently!) and adding moisture. I used to get regular keratin treatments to keep it soft and silky but with quarantine being in place, I haven’t been able to! I haven’t been able to get a haircut, either. The combination of heat styling and coloring my hair, combined with natural texture issues can be a recipe for split ends, breakage, and frizz.

On top of that, my hair can also get brassy in between highlighting appointments! Luckily, there are two products I absolutely love that have made SUCH a big difference: Kérastase Blond Absolu Anti-Brass Purple Shampoo and Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3. Together, they restore my hair and help to combat damage, while keeping my highlights looking bright but never brassy.

Kérastase Blond Absolu Anti-Brass Purple Shampoo

This is my current favorite purple shampoo!

what it is: This is an ultra-violet, color-correcting shampoo made with hyaluronic acid. The violet pigment neutralizes lightened hair and counteracts brassiness… keeping those highlights nice and cool. And just like with your skin, HA is AMAZING for hydration!).

why i love it: It keeps my highlights looking fresh with no yellow brassiness, AND it helps to hydrate.

how i use it: I use this at least once a week. Apply to wet hair, leave on at least two minutes, and rinse thoroughly! You can use it up to 3x a week.

Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

If you’ve been following me a long time, you know I absolutely RAVE about Olaplex No. 3.

what it is: This is a magical product. It’s a pre-shampoo hair treatment. It’s highly concentrated (don’t be intimidated by the small bottle, you only need a little bit!) and will strengthen hair from within… reducing breakage and improving its look and feel.

why I love it: IT WORKS. It is hands down, my favorite hair treatment. After using Olaplex No.3 my hair is noticeably softer to the touch.

how I use it:I use this twice a week. Apply it before shampooing to damp, towel-dried hair… from scalp to ends, saturating it. Leave on for a minimum of ten minutes (you can sleep in it if you’d like, sometimes I do!) Rinse it out and shampoo + condition as usual!
